“ARTIST BIO”
Michelle is an award winning photographer whose work has been featured in "This Week in Texas," as well as appearing in many other national magazines. Her work has been purchased by the State of New Mexico, The Autry Museum of Western Heritage in Los Angeles, and for private collections across the country. Michelle, a native of New Orleans, grew up enjoying the unique landscape and architecture of the city. After receiving her degree in photography she traveled extensively living in Texas and New Mexico before returning to New Orleans. Along her journey Michelle stopped often to experience and record the wonders she found in everyday places.
Michelle started photographing horses in 1972. She was the horse show photographer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for five years, and has traveled coast-to-coast photographing horses at shows and on ranches. Her images have been on the cover of "The Appaloosa News", the centerfold of "Horse Of Course" as well as in other national equine magazines.
“ARTIST STATEMENT”
Art is different for everyone. What I see the instant I make an exposure will probably be different from what you or I see in the final photographic image. When we look at an image, whether it is a fine art print or a stock image in a magazine, our response is based on our life experience. Our life experience and our beliefs will trigger the emotions we feel when viewing fine art photography or any type of art.
The work that I produce comes from the heart. When I look around, I don't see lines and shapes. I see the beauty of the spirit of the universe that we are each a part. I see the web of all things in existence intertwined. Each element has its own quality. In my images I try to capture that spirit, that elusive essence that all too often we are in too much of a hurry to notice. If I can help one person to stop and take notice, we all will benefit
My hope is for each person to respond in his or her own way, acknowledging their own emotions. At times I will make statements concerning my fine art photographic images. For the most part I will allow you to experience your feelings and emotions with out the distraction of mine.
